It has a warm and humid climate along its Indian Ocean coastline with widlife rich savannah grasslands inland towards the capital of Nairobi which has a cool climate. Summer clothes are normally worn throughout the year but it is ususally cool at night and early in the morning inland at higher elevations.
Kenya lies across the equator in the east-central Africa, on the coast of the Indian Ocean on the East, Tanzania to the south, Uganda to the West, South Sudan to the North-west, Ethiopia to the north and Somalia to the north-east. In the north, the land is arid, the south west corner lies fertile Lake Victoria basin. (Lake Victoria enters Tanzania too) From the coast on Indian Ocean, the low plains rise to central plateau. The highlands are bisected by the Great Rift Valley with a fertile plateau lying to the east. The Kenyan highlands comprise of one of the most successful agricultural production regions in Africa plus of course home to Mount Kenya. and a length of the Easter depression of the Great Rift Valley separates western highlands from those that rise from the lowland coastal strip. Kenya is the setting for one of the Natural Wonders of the World – the annual wildebeest migration – from the Serengeti Plains to the Masai Mara and the spectacular river crossings. Occurring between June and September, our safaris coincide with this occurrence. The Big Five animals of Africa can be found in Kenya and in the Masai Mara in particular. The Masai Mara National reserve, located on the tip of the Serengeti, is impressive with its wide open plains and abundance of wildlife. Home to the Masai Warriors, Kikuyu and Samburu people with their colourful beads and warm personalities. One can’t miss the Tsavo National Park, mostly consists of semi-arid grasslands and savannah, it is considered one of the great Biodiversity strongholds with diverse wildlife seen such as the Masai lion, black rhino, cape buffalo, elephant and leopard as well as some of the best bird-watching in the world.
