7 Day / 6 night Zimbabwe – Lake Kariba & Hwange National Park



Extend your stay to include Zimbabwe where you can enjoy the Zimbabwean hospitality as well maybe spotting all of the Big Five. Experience the diverse wildlife and beautiful sunsets over Lake Kariba, stretching over 300 km in length and covering an area of 500,000 ha. ; the world’s largest manmade lake and reserve. It is also home to abundant bird and game including black rhino.

Enjoy morning game drives, evening game cruises, game walks and optional fishing – excellent angling opportunities for Bream and the renowned fighting Tiger Fish can be sampled in Lake Kariba.  A charter flight to Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe’s largest game park, staying on a private concession for 3 nights with Hwange on your doorstep, a slice of paradise. You can upgrade your game drives to be in the Hwange National Park. With an area of 1,460,000 ha the park hosts over 100 mammal and 400 bird species, including plenty of Africa’s ‘Big Five’ (lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant). There are also large numbers of giraffes, hyenas and cheetahs. You will finish with a road transfer to the picturesque Victoria Falls.   Hwange National Park is sanctuary to some of the largest herds of African Elephants – known as super herds, up to 35o elephants can be spotted visiting the local waterholes.

Accommodation: 3 nights luxury tented camp on the shores of Lake Kariba and 3 nights lodge near Hwange National Park.

Itinerary Example

DAYS 1 – 3 You will be met in Kariba and transferred by road to your safari camp where you relax, unwind and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the African Bush for three nights. Your fully inclusive package includes morning game drives, evening game cruises, fishing and game walks, conservation fees, lake and river usage. Fishing Permit can be easily obtained (2 x rods x 2 days). The lodge is situated on the shores of the manmade Lake Kariba, within the remote wilderness area of Matusadona National Park.  This unique area offers an Intensive Protection Zone and home to the endangered black rhino. Professional guides will enhance your understanding and appreciation of the animals and trees, plants, insects, history and geography of this wilderness area. BLD

DAYS 4 – 6 Transfer from Kariba to Hwange National Park by charter flight. Accommodation for three nights in uniquely thatched rondavels offers the perfect blend of ancient culture, nature and modern convenience. Morning and afternoon game drives are included, you can upgrade your game drives to be in the Hwange National Park. Part of ancient royal hunting grounds of King Lobengula, the lodge was later visited in 1991 by her Royal Highness, Queen Elizabeth II, and Prince Phillip. Overlooking the famous Dete Vlei, the long dried up river, which today frequently hosts wildlife like sable antelope, giraffe, zebra and big herds of elephant and buffalo, lion, cheetah, painted dog, jackal and more at the water holes. The Vlei is also renowned for its incredible bird population, believed to be no less than 350 different species in all. BLD
